Product Description

The steering gear box is the heart of the vehicle’s steering system. It guides the wheels’ movement in conjunction with the direction that the steering wheel is rotated, helping achieve ideal steering response for more efficient driving. CARDONE Remanufactured Steering Gear Boxes are re-engineered, built and tested to match O.E. performance. Each unit features 100% new O-rings and lip seals to ensure leak-free, long-lasting performance. Shafts are surfaced to precise specifications to eliminate premature seal wear and extend gear life. All units are 100% hydraulically tested to ensure perfect fit and function.

  • Product & Technical

Should the power steering hoses be replaced?
Hoses should be replaced if they appear brittle or if there are any kinks or leaks.

Can I adjust my original gear box if it has a lot of play?
Not recommended. The preload is adjusted at the time of assembly. If excessive play is present, it’s due to wear of internal components. If adjustment is attempted, it could lead to binding.

What is the difference between a fast ratio and a slow ratio gear box?
The difference is the orientation of the teeth on the pitman shaft and power piston. Variable teeth will have a faster ratio than non-variable teeth.

How can I tell if my gear box is a standard or reverse rotation?
In a standard rotation gear box, the input and pitman shaft rotate in the same direction. The shafts turn in opposite directions on a reverse rotation gear box.
